Keep your mind busy learning new things

Our minds need activeness all the time so that they do not think about bad things and think about playing dirty plays when we are bored, and it is up to us to keep our minds busy in such a way that we are being benefited from it. Sometimes we keep our minds busy in such a way that we are damaging them without understanding. There are several ways that people use to stay busy, it can be beneficial or harmful to our minds

In this article, I am going to suggest some ways that you can use to keep your mind busy with benefits coming out from it especially during this time of quarantine. You can either use all of them or at least to get 80% of them will bring good result in your life, follow the following eight (08) things to help you keep your mind busy with some benefits from that action


1. Read books

I recommend reading books to keep your mind busy, reading books will provide a lot of benefits in yourself because reading will make your mind grow as it reads new things, and since books are written after a deep analysis they have a strong message in them and everyone will get something to learn from them

Sometimes reading books may be found a little boring but it is not boring as we will follow the rules of reading, and choose the books talking about things that wee are interested in. I also take a book as a bulk task and I break it into small manageable tasks, learn how to make big task small, and after that nothing stops me from reading as many books as possible

Reading books are mainly done at libraries but for now, there is no way you can get an open library to read books, but don't worry this is 2020 we have everything simplified for you FREE BOOKS provide you with free books that you can either download or read online through their Reading system. I recommend you to use that website as they offer every type of books you may want and it has been pretty helpful to me and I hope it will be for you too

As I believe sharing is caring and there are some people in one way or another don't have access to the reading stuff, after I read books I usually share the most important quotes that I got from the books and that make me proud, and I also write some important statements in my sticky notes and keep repeating to read them always and believe me it is mind changing and I advise you to try that too.

The other way you may find reading books is pretty enjoying is by annotating every page you are reading, to annotate means to highlight all the important sentences in the books and try to analyze them and find out what do they actually mean the definition of the word or find the reason of something. It is a good thing to use the applications that will allow you to highlight and put notes in it I usually use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC or WPS, they are good as they let me highlight something that I think is important and to note things when I need to write a note about something.

2. Take a walk and discover

Savoring Walk | Practice | Greater Good in ActionThis is my favorite thing that I use to keep myself busy at any time, during this time of quarantine only if you are living in a place with a low population I advise you to do this because you can be safe as you may not meet anyone in your way. I usually walk in the morning before the strong sun comes out and in the evening as the sun goes down and I found this very interesting

To analyze as you walk will even double the fun you can have when walking, to analyze you can take your notebook and a pen/pencil and decide what you want to analyze that day and you can learn a lot of things during your walking. You can analyze how many mango trees are there from a certain place to a certain place. I usually take my phone and find interesting things as I walk and take pictures of them and write about them and sometimes I find a good location and make videos

Sometimes I find a close food place and I walk to that place and eat as I walk back home, which gives me the motivation to walk. Walking is very important for your health both mentally and physically, to me, walking keeps me away from all stress and things I was worried about but also as you walk to analyze you can learn important facts, and maybe you can be the first person to discover that. 

You can take a walk with friends or family but during this time when we maintain social distancing it is good thing that we walk alone so as to stop the spread of Corona virus, and so that we all remain safe

3. Analyze things 

To analyze means to examine things methodically so that to give out the information and interpret to give out the lessons from it. To analyze things may keep your mind busy as you learn new things as well and the good thing about analyzing is it is not limited you can analyze anything around you and you can give out fun facts about that thing and people will appreciate that

You can analyze trees around your house and try to find some information like how they grow, do they eat, why they drop their leaves, how they give birth, for how long they give birth, what factors affecting their reproductive systems, e.t.c, you can also analyze bugs that are in your house or you can just analyze the atmosphere of your surroundings

Analyzing is very important to keep your mind busy in such a way that you are learning something from it, there is a lot of cool stuff that only need you to sit and relax and pay close attention to discover. There are many things you can analyze and here are five (5) things you can analyze 
  1. The life of mosquitos
  2. Why do people appreciate social media than people?
  3. Is there any difference between the firstborn and the last born to their parents?
  4. What thing seems to be so hard about staying home
  5. Is it really that the atmosphere is built on a number of things?
After you do analyzes is a good thing to share what you have discovered and believe me there is no way you can do analyzes without discovering something and the good thing it is not limited. 4. Try to think of new ideas 

Many of us are bored of somethings we do as we do it always or we are getting tired of those things but we can not think of something better as we are busy texting and visiting social media liking pictures, but we forget that we can use few of our time to think about new things and how we can improve our selves on our works and everyday life

I always use my free time to think about what can I write next, what should I do for my community, what groups need help and how can I help those groups. But it not easy to use the same mind to come with new ideas every time so what I do is I use these three measures you can use them too it is really challenging and helpful: 
  1. First I use the brainstorming process: This is the process where I list down all things I know about something I am trying to work on, and list down all ideas no matter how crazy they are. I normally use sticky notes and a pencil and my calendar to stick my sticky notes, I get a lot of ideas and I use CHOOSING WHAT TO DO FIRST SYSTEM to find out what should I do first.
  2. Collect ideas from other people: I love to hear from other people what do they think about something and I normally collect thoughts from people who have gone through the process I want to enter, I ask older Alumni about the project I found out I can do first and second and from them I get to know what should I do, but I put in mind that none is ever to choose anything for me, I take advice, I analyze and I choose what to do.
  3. Think of risks and requirements: I understand that everything I want to do has its risks ad requirements that I should know before putting myself into it, and I believe that I have to deal with those risk but in requirements, I have to know that I am able to get all the requirements. I remember many times I plan something but at the end be of the biggest requirement is to be at least 18 and that was breaking me out but if I could think of the requirements before I could find other ways I can do things
When I follow this process I always come up with a good way of either thing I am working on. You should also use this way as it gives you a chance to do what you want with knowing how either people think about and how you think about an what are the risks and challenges you may encounter as I always believe that will think for you, hey advice you and you make our own decision on anything.

5. Exercising

10-Minute Full-Body Workout You Can Do at HomeMany people are encouraging people to do exercises for the purpose of getting six-packs or for the purpose of having muscles, and yah it is alright to do that for that purpose but there are some people who think that they can not get six packs anymore for the situation they are at and they decide to exercise anymore. But one thing they fail to understand is not only can exercise make you have six-packs but can do a lot in your body including keeping your mind busy and free from thinking dirty stuff. 

I recommend exercising whenever you are busy so that you build your body, and building your body I don't mean having six-packs I mean your body to be healthy and resistant to diseases. But also exercising will make you busy and tired from being trapped by social media and bad thoughts

There are many forms of exercising and you can choose whatever form you think is fine for you, you don't have to do the hardest exercise to ever happen in the world, your simple exercise may keep you healthy and strong. I used to juggle every morning and swim every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. YOu can do juggling, walking, running, swimming, do a gym workout, and the good thing is that there are a lot of websites and applications that will direct you how to workout anywhere you are, visit WORK OUT ANYWHERE  to see how you can work out at your house, your office, in the car, at school, and everywhere else

6. Do small tasks | Chores 

Let's be helpful when we keep ourselves healthy and free from bad thoughts by helping small chores in our houses and keep ourselves busy. Many people do not see the importance of moving around and they see it is better to just sit down and liking Instagram pictures, but moving our bodies keeps our minds busy.

To see this, you can spend up to 15 minutes doing dishes, and up to 20 minutes sweeping/vacuum around the house, about 15 minutes wiping dust, by that you have kept yourself busy for almost an hour and you have been free from any bad thinking and unnecessary stress. 

You can help to prepare kids at your house if you have any, you can arrange your bedroom, you can find old clothes that you don't want, you can rearrange your living room, you can make decorations for your house and all those things will make you busy from thinking negatively and staying unproductive

Doing small tasks is important because it first helps out things that maybe couldn't be done for a number of days, but also it keeps you busy and your mind busy, it keeps yourself happy seeing things that you have done for that day and seeing around how beautiful your house is because of you motivates you.

7. Take sometime off 

REST, You're doing it wrong. – Chapman WorldAnything you do can be harmful if done excessively and I recommend to use some of your to take deep rest to real your mind and your body, you can use your relaxing time to sleep for at least 8 hours every day, listening to your favorite music that will keep you happy, drawing if you are interested in drawing, talking to your friends on phone, visiting social media but not for a long time

Taking some time off is one of the methods to accomplish your things as it makes you come up with new energy to do the next task, many people do not take some time off and they work and work and work and that results in poor performances of what they are doing. So, I recommend you to see resting as a way to do a good job. 

By following those you will be free from being unproductive and you will not spend your free time doing nothing, and also there are some advantages that you will get from following those ways like you will remain safe, your house will be attractive by doing small tasks and chores, but also you will be a critical thinker and you will have the best quality of your tasks since you are following all the needed measures to complete your tasks.
